Watercolor Workshop Morocco

The wonderful Morocco

2nd – 10th of November 2021

Experts in the field: Morocco watercolor

The watercolor workshop is open to beginners and also professional artist. It takes place over 9 days. The group is limited: 15 people (maximum). It is held either indoor (in a guesthouses and riads) or  outdoors in the surrounding natural environment,( the desert dunes and green fields of palm trees). In general, it consist of both theoretical and practical approaches to watercolor. The course happens in a friendly atmosphere which take place in the morning and in the afternoon, 6 hours of lessons per day except the desert day 1h.

Beginning with simple watercolor sketches you can move further and further to more and more difficult paintings. Every painting is a special adventure although it is not neccessary to produce high sophisticated pictures. The art of watercolor lives from soft impressions and strong expressions. Both is important and both can be improved.
Painting plein air – especially during a painting trip – has the main goal to catch the impression of an item. It is not important to produce paintings with all details and everything that could be seen. Small items may be more important than panorama images. My goal: Let imagination flow! Not the perfect painting is important, the special feeling should be brought to the paper.

Your door towards Moroccan Watercolor Adventures and Workshops

When people use the word „exoticism“, they are probably referring to places like Morocco.

Travel to the heart of Morocco is to travel differently to the  great south of Morocco. Immersion into the incredible sites of this region. Historical circuits allow you to discover the valleys of Dades, Toudgha as well as the superb region of Tafilalet and Draa (Zagora). Besides, an intoxicating afternoon and night in the desert where you ride a camel on the dunes while the sun flickers dramatically on the horizon, where you arrive at the camp offering comfortable accommodation, nestled in amongst the dunes and a sense of well-being.

The tour will also allow us to discover historical, cultural and traditional Morocco without forgetting the Moroccan gastronomy.

A visit to Morocco is essentially the answer to all your Lawrence of Arabia fantasies (including the whirling white djellabas): we will stay in historic riads, camp under the Saharan stars and enjoy Moroccan hospitality.

List of materials to use for painters:

Please consider that you have to take your equipment with you during the journey. Therefore it should be easy to handle, which means it should not be too heavy and not too bulky.

√-I suggest a minimum equipment with a watercolor paintbox with at least 12 different colors. If possible take a box with 18 or more colors. It does not matter if you take cups or tubes, but it is important to take watercolors in professional quality from well known companies e. g. Windsor-Newton, Schminke, White-Nights, Sennelier …

√-watercolor blocks with in total appr. 40 sheets (min. weight 300 g/m2, not too tiny – e. g. 25 x 35 cm or larger),

√-four or five brushes with different sizes in good quality (even brushes with artificial hairs could lead to good results) and

√-rather soft pencils and an eraser.

√-To improve details of the plein air sketches take some watercolor or ink pens with you.

√-an aluminium easel

√-Additional utilities: pater towels or cloth rag, water cup, aluminium stool (if you want)
